A Pahadi experience

Fancy a Himalayan beauty ritual? Well, if you are in Mumbai, then you can step into the closest Jean-Claude Biguine (JCB) salon, for a Pahadi facial, or a manicure and pedicure treatment. In a first, the French salon, JCB has launched an Indian home-grown beauty brand, Pahadi Local in its salons. Initially the launch is only in its Mumbai salons. Plans are to introduce the products to other JCB salons in Pune and Bengaluru from June 2021. “With growing beauty consciousness, we see an incline towards replacing chemical-laden products with natural, empirical alternatives. Pahadi Local stands out as an ethical, modern skincare and wellness brand of its generation with outstanding natural offerings. Thus, it was an incontrovertible decision for JCB Salons to introduce honest, locally sourced skincare solutions by Pahadi Local, and combine it with our trusted, unrivalled expertise,” says Samir Srivastav, CEO, JCB Salons.

According to Samir Srivastav, JCB Salons has been focussing on a more sustainable, yet efficacious approach towards hair and skincare solutions, be it from an international brand or Indian.

For a home grown brand like Pahadi Local, a tie up with JCB is a big thing. Of course, Jessica Jayne, founder, Pahadi Local is honoured to be a part of this conscious movement. “I see this collaboration between Pahadi Local and JCB Salons as an important step. For Indian home-grown brands to be recognised by an internationally renowned platform whose primary focus is delivering highest standards of service and expertise, is both significant and prestigious,” she says.

With this JCB has joined the ‘Vocal for Local’ tidal wave, adding the ‘make in India’ stamp of authenticity to its salons with the introduction of Pahadi Local. The narrative of beauty is gradually changing to one that is natural and mindful, not only of the body but also the environment. According to Srivastav, JCB Salons has been focussing on a more sustainable, yet efficacious approach towards hair and skincare solutions be it from an international brand or Indian. Within India, there is an abundance of treasure that one can draw from our home-grown ingredients and traditional practices. With growing beauty consciousness, there is an incline towards replacing chemical-laden products with natural, empirical alternatives. “Pahadi Local stands out as an ethical, modern skincare and wellness brand of its generation with outstanding natural offerings. Thus, it was an incontrovertible decision for JCB Salons to introduce honest, locally sourced skincare solutions by Pahadi Local and combine it with our trusted, unrivalled expertise,” says Srivastav.

Pahadi Local was started by Mumbai based audio engineer Jessica Jayne in 2017. Over the years she had the opportunity to live in the northern hill station of Shimla (Himachal Pradesh). Here she took an interest in local recipes and remedies for beauty and wellness. Her first tryst with gutti ka tel (apricot kernel oil) was a big success, with family and friends fast spreading the word of its goodness. Thus was born Pahadi Local, a brand based on the philosophy to bring everything pure from the foothills of the Himalayas into our everyday lives, and yet have a minimal impact on the environment.

For now, the Pahadi Local experience is available only at JCB’s 18 salons in Mumbai. Srivastav expects to go live with phase 2 launch of Pahadi Local at JCB Salons in Bengaluru and Pune around May-June 2021. The Pahadi Local product range at JCB include apricot kernel, peach kernel and sweet almond cold-pressed oils, Himalayan clay, lake sediment detox salts and more. Each therapy has been conscientiously crafted by the JCB experts for a more holistic, feel-good experience. The Himalayan Beauty Rituals, as it is called at JCB, includes facials, wellness massages, foot soaks, and all-natural manicures and pedicures. The manicure/pedicure are priced at Rs1500+, while the wellness therapies begin at Rs1000+, depending on the service you choose. For retail, the salon has introduced their beauty oils, scrubs, and clay masks so that their clients can include all-natural products in their at-home beauty regimens.

So support a home-grown brand and go to your nearest JCB salon for the mountain spa experience.
